Title: Jekyll

QUOTE
Jekyll is a BBC television drama serial inspired by Robert Louis Stevenson's novel The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Though not a literal adaptation of the original story, it has the same theme and embodies and parallels many incidents and names related in the novel. For instance in episode one, 'Hyde' tramples on a boy, echoing a similar scene in the original book where Hyde tramples on a girl. In a somewhat postmodern fashion, Stevenson's book itself features as part of the backstory. This story is updated to a modern setting with Jekyll using contemporary technology to try and keep Hyde dormant and protect his family from the darker side of his personality. Little is Jekyll aware that he is being monitored by a secret society and that he and Hyde are part of a terrifying centuries-old plot.

THE CAST

== James Nesbitt as Tom Jackman - Dr Tom Jackman's life is in tatters. He's been playing host to an uninvited guest - a dangerous alter-ego. Desperate to protect his family from his dark side, Jackman has been forced to leave his old life behind and strike a diabolical deal with his own devil.

== James Nesbitt as Mr Hyde - Savage and carnivorous, Hyde's everything that the repressed Jackman's not; a narcissistic newborn in a grown man's body. Despite inhabiting the same body, Hyde is much stronger and faster on his feet than Jackman, and he's getting stronger. He also has darker hair and a different hairline, and distinctive black eyes. He is also said to be taller than Jackman, and unlike Jackman is left handed. Every time Jackman falls asleep or gets angry - Hyde threatens to take over. Hyde has a sick sense of humour, but has a strange fondness for The Lion King. He won't be chained up forever.

== Gina Bellman as Claire Jackman - Claire's idyllic existence with her two sons and doting husband, Tom, is shattered by an ancient family curse. She's oblivious to the fact that Tom can turn into a terrifying psychopath in the blink of an eye.

== Denis Lawson as Peter Syme - Peter is Tom's closest friend and confidant. He's a scientist in genetics who isn't what he seems at all.

== Michelle Ryan as Katherine Reimer - Katherine is Tom's enigmatic and dedicated assistant. A psychiatric nurse, Katherine is the only person other than Tom who knows about his secret double life. She has the task of helping him lead it: the servant of two masters but only one man.

== Meera Syal as Miranda Callendar - Miranda is the private detective who stumbles not only on the truth about Tom and his alter ego, but on a conspiracy over a century old. She must convince Tom that there are more frightening things in this modern world than Mr Hyde.

== Paterson Joseph as Benjamin - A brash American overseeing the surveillance and capture of Mr Hyde. His attempts to persuade Hyde to submit come in the form of veiled threats with ever escalating severity.

Oops, sorry about the long gap for replying.

It wasn't on when you mentioned because of Live Earth, the concerts for a climate in crisis - the concert to raise awareness about Global Warming. I actually attended Live Earth at the Wembley show, it was fantastic.

Either of you got theories about Jackman/Hyde? I'm not sure what he is, so if it's not possible for him to be Henry Jekyll's descendant, and he's not a clone, what is he?

I have no idea, but I did think episode four was VERY creepy in the way it showed Hyde came out and it chillingly proved how... well, evil, Hyde is, because of the whole "I don't know why I want to hurt you, I just woke up wanting to hurt you and you know what? it never gets old" scene.

I loved the way Claire and Tom got together, the whole "you were going to leave" thing - though I really wish Tom would ditch Claire and go for Katherine. Claire is annoying with a whiney voice.

I like the Hyde character and how the sadistic behaviour is shown in the series. I love how he randomly attacks people in the street and shows a lot of blood. Hyde is a cool character near the start that easily got provoked but now he attacks anyone but the family Tom is known to have.

I also feel sorry for Tom, not being able to see this children because of Hyde and just...well be normal.

I think that maybe he was Jeckle/Hyde in a past life. He also suits Katherine more than claire I think.

Hyde has a nice side or rescued Tom's family for the heck of it and for his own greed!
