Title: Come to the dark side

emmanuelle snape - May 30, 2007 06:33 PM (GMT)
I am proud to be Emo but who else there is?

Is it all about depression and cutting your wrist- and if you do that go down the road not across the street! Ha ha. I bet most of you have dyed your hair black and have some piercings somewhere. I can't wait til summer hols, having black highlights in fringe and having may be a bar piercing across my ear.

Lost Prophet - May 30, 2007 06:42 PM (GMT)
I'm not really into the whole emo-scene deal...but yeah, it kind of made me angry when I was younger because there were all of these people at my school that were publicizing a habit like cutting, and I kind of always felt like if someone was a true and real cutter, and did it for their own personal reasons, then they wouldn't want to show them off...they'd hide them. Because they don't want to get caught.

But I dunno...like I said, the whole emo-scene doesn't fit me, never did. I just do my own thing, and I don't ever want to be pinned down with a specific term, because that means there's restrictions and "guidelines" and I don't really do those when it comes to myself.

I'm sure there's plenty of other people on here that are...I dyed my hair black when I was like, what, I think, 15. It took it forever for it to wash out, because I have naturally light/medium brown hair. I didn't do it to look "cool" though. I think I just did it for the sake of a change, the reason I do most things...

emmanuelle snape - May 30, 2007 06:48 PM (GMT)
I've never cut myself, its just stupid with the whole razar blade thing but my boyfriend use to and now has scars up his arm. Its just idiotic!

Lost Prophet - May 30, 2007 06:55 PM (GMT)
It is. It sets off a bad trend, where it becomes cool to do these things. Really, they're not cool at all, and the people who really do have those problems are miserable and stuck. If they had any intention of telling anyone about it, they won't now, because really, it's the "in" thing though there's no comprehension or substance behind what those actions really mean.

Anyway, we're way off topic!

The one thing I do like about the emo culture is the haircuts. Those are just drop-dead-gorgeous. I'm a bit envious of them, with the "hair across the eyes" deal going on, and I was never able to pull that off, because my hair's so thick and curly, that it's practically impossible.

emmanuelle snape - May 30, 2007 07:00 PM (GMT)
Im taking my hair cut hopefully next weekend. Fringe is going to happen but it takes ages to straighten my hair so most of the time i don't bother.

You all so have to have the whole skinny jeans and converse look!

XxXPainfullyYours - May 30, 2007 07:02 PM (GMT)
im more into the scene deal.. i like emos though but im sorta a sceneish emoish punk style. which my friend calls a hardcore girly ...

Lost Prophet - May 30, 2007 07:06 PM (GMT)
I like my Chuck Taylors, they're honestly really kickin' but I prefer all-black Vans and of the like. I never really understood the whole "emo boys in tight girls pants" deal. Then again, I guess there's not many places that will sell tight boys pants, so they've got to get them from somewhere.

emmanuelle snape - May 30, 2007 07:07 PM (GMT)
So your more of a Emo poser? Do you wear lots of stripey hoodies?

XxXPainfullyYours - May 30, 2007 07:13 PM (GMT)
who me? cause im no emo poser

emmanuelle snape - May 30, 2007 07:27 PM (GMT)
Joking with your Nat! I saw some Pink Vans the other week with penguins on. I love my Green and brown DC's

XxXPainfullyYours - May 30, 2007 07:28 PM (GMT)

emmanuelle snape - May 30, 2007 07:42 PM (GMT)
Never heard of that one!

XxXPainfullyYours - May 30, 2007 07:46 PM (GMT)
haha its all around my school

emmanuelle snape - May 30, 2007 07:50 PM (GMT)
That scares me!

Trash - May 31, 2007 01:34 AM (GMT)
O-F-F- -T-O-P-I-C!! girls!

I get accused alot of being emo at my school, particularly because of the one time I came into school with my wrist bandaged. They'd all assumed I'd "gone all emo" and started "slashing" my wrists - which whislt it wasn't true, I'd still done it myself. I'd had a panic attack and scratched away a layer of skin from my wrist, and it'd gone all swollen and was leaking clear and yellowish fluid so I wrapped it up.

Emo clothing and style is incredibly... awesome to me. I love their haircuts, the way they dress, only I can't stand their music *laughs* save for My Chemical Romance, but I consider MCR more memo than emo anyway. The thing I also like is how they are real people. I know several emos, and they're not the social recluses that emos get claimed to be by the idiots of the world. They can be great fun people to hang around with.

The sad thing is I know people who cut, too, and my ex-boyfriend committed suicide, and it's horrible to see people get accused of something because one emo kid somewhere cut himself and the world responded by saying all emos do that.

Actually, where did the whole "emos cut themselves!!" thing come from?

fleur - May 31, 2007 08:40 AM (GMT)
Just because someones emo doesn't mean there depressed and upset all the time. Most are just the same as everyone else but they just dress differently to others and listen to different music and so on. But isn't that what everybody does? Many people think to become emo because they want to fit in with the crowd but that's not what you should do.Emo's have black hair or dress in black but there just the same as everyone else. Some no a fence cut them self for attention or because there so deepressed they fill there not important to the world. I mean I no someone who just to do that and everyone else told him to stop being stupid. I have so many emo friends that are kind and not on the egdes of depression. My sister for one and my step sister. There as fun and they have always been.

emmanuelle snape - May 31, 2007 09:52 AM (GMT)
Yes me!

Music is one of my loves as an Emo. I also love MCR, The Used, Korn, Aiden etc. I'm learning to play the guitar at the moment konwing only how to play the G- chord coz my boyfriend is teaching me. I do have depression mood swings but never self harm.

XxXPainfullyYours - May 31, 2007 11:18 AM (GMT)
uh huh fleur
and lemme guess your a prep?

Trash - May 31, 2007 12:03 PM (GMT)
Play nicely, Nat. Though you do make a good point - Fleur, if you and Ellie are twins [which I KNOW you are because I talk to Elle on msn] and Elle is emo, what are you?

XxXPainfullyYours - May 31, 2007 12:20 PM (GMT)
Ok okay. Super sorry. i will play as nice as possible. but yeah what are you Fleur? i PERSONALLY hate when people pretend to be something there not. And if you say emo. I will laugh you dont seem emo.

emmanuelle snape - May 31, 2007 01:14 PM (GMT)
She is way different to me but she's not a prep, she's just good at english and rping!

We have different tastes of clothing and music, different hobbies! She has nothing in her wardrobe that is black unlike Emo me!

hellbunny - May 31, 2007 04:56 PM (GMT)
I think everyone should wear what they want when they want and not be tied down by labels!

emmanuelle snape - May 31, 2007 05:20 PM (GMT)
The more colour the better! Stand out from the crowd, i do!

hellbunny - June 1, 2007 08:21 PM (GMT)
Yeah!! it's always gd to be different cause if everyone the same it so BORING but the only down side is if everyone wants to stand out no one will because everyone will be standing out so no one will stand out cause everyone the same.god that was confusing hurt my brain lol.But emo's r gd and just cause you like the musci and fashopin dosent mean u like the slitting of wrists and to be fair half the "emos" do it for some attention not because of trobles in their life cause they want someone to notice them. And lets be fair thats very sad and those people need some councilling. but then so do people who actually need to cut themselves or feel they need to. i think i'll stop here after my essay. lol.

Maybe. People deal with things differently. I think that as long as it's not taking up an important time of their day, or affecting their ability to do everyday things, then really...well...it's not so bad.

emmanuelle snape - June 1, 2007 08:29 PM (GMT)
So a summary, most emos are attention seekers or have serious issues!

Lost Prophet - June 1, 2007 08:46 PM (GMT)
I just think a majority of the kids who dress the way they do just like the style and the music, and that's fine. I just don't like it when an activity like that is promoted out there and there's people doing it for the pure sake of gaining attention. That upsets me.

Anyway, I'm done. Enough ranting on my part.

emmanuelle snape - June 1, 2007 09:11 PM (GMT)
I love Emo bands! Ive played The Used three times today, the whole album. I think i'll be sick of it next week. Soz, i'm getting off topic!

hplvr_4ever - June 10, 2007 09:48 PM (GMT)
I get called "emo" all the time by my friends just because I have an "emo" haircut and i dress like an "emo" kid.
But truthfully,I think the whole "emo" label so steroized(spelled wrong but you get what i mean :) ). Kids that really ARE emo don't call themselves emo. Emo stands for emotional, meaning that kids who are called emo are generally emotional, depressed, going through a hard time, tend to keep to themselves, ect.
Scene is different.Scene is a a label for someone who dresses by the whole "emo" steroized clothing and all of that jazz, but is not emotional.

Bascially summary, kids that really are emo do not call themselves emo. ;)

And sorry if you guys dont quite follow my thought process.Im a tad bit scattered brained today due to constant studying for exams.

Trash - June 10, 2007 10:38 PM (GMT)
Emo is short for emotional, yes, but it wasn't really from that if I remember right- it was from the emo style of MUSIC, which is emotional MUSIC, therefore the label of emo shouldn't really come from the clothing or the haircuts or even if they're going through a hard patch in life - it's really to do with the music they listen to. Apparantly.

That's what I heard anyway.

I've never cut myself, its just stupid with the whole razar blade thing but my boyfriend use to and now has scars up his arm. Its just idiotic!

I know. I am emo in a sort :P Some days I'm emo but most of my friends say that I'm mostly punk. I do have some "depressing" days and I do put myself down a lot (mostly about guys) but I will never go as far as cutting. Too many of my friends cut and it ruins their lives. They lose friends, they lose their parents trust and all the privileges that come with their trust and they lose the advantage of having beautiful scar free wrists. I feel so bad for them and I would ever want to go down that far down the path. I am so excited for the next time I die my hair. I'm going to get it died blond and have black lowlights throughout it, and get side swept bangs and jagged edged layers. Its going to be awesome! :P

emmanuelle snape - June 11, 2007 06:01 PM (GMT)
My boyfriend, Daniel has lots of scars which i would hate to have!

Cecilia Carter - June 11, 2007 06:29 PM (GMT)
I know! One of my friends, morgan has scars all on her wrists, stomach, back, back of her ears, and bottoms of her feet. I would not be able to stand that!

emmanuelle snape - June 11, 2007 06:36 PM (GMT)
How strange!

Cecilia Carter - June 11, 2007 06:46 PM (GMT)
Well thats basically Morgan in a nutshell...

emmanuelle snape - June 11, 2007 07:07 PM (GMT)
Why her feet?

Cecilia Carter - June 11, 2007 07:12 PM (GMT)
Well first it was her wrists until her parents found out, then it was her stomach until her boyfriend found out, then it was her back until our friend rose found out, then the back of her ears until our gym teacher found out, so she figured that since she's always wearing shoes her feet would be a good place.

emmanuelle snape - June 11, 2007 07:22 PM (GMT)
i seriously wouldn't cut myself like that!
