A fragment of a report from today's news block on Perejaslawl public national TV channel:
Hello, this is Lubomira Dobronezheva, and we are broadcasting live from the Great Meeting Hall, where the Great Veche today reviewed Knyaz Zlatimir's yesterday suggestion to join the the Balkanic Peninsula Peace Agreement. This question has been raised in the high circles of the government for several times already since Perejaslawl joined the Balkans region, and, as at became clear that population is strongly in favor of the agreement, Knyaz convened the Veche, and asked it to make an ultimate decision on the matter. It didn't took long; from the very beginning it was clear that vast majority of the members were pro-ratification, and indeed, the only question debated for some significant period of time was whether the definition of the 3rd article of the Agreement is too broad. After some heated debate, the issue was successfully solved to everyone's delight, and just a few minutes ago the Veche held a vote. Result was not unexpected: out of 400 representatives, 347 voted for ratification, 38 abstained, and only 15 were against. So it seems, the required majority of 2/3 of the parliament is reached, and the agreement will now be sent to Knyaz for approval and signature. Meanwhile, we are waiting for the deputees to leave the building, to... wait... Vedogost Bratislavich, can you spare a minute of your time? yes, for the TV, just a few words about today's meeting... ah! thank you very much! This is Vedogost Tikhomirov, a representative of the Slavic Unity party dominating the Great Veche. He agreed to answer a few questions for us.
"Vedogost Bratislavich, what is your opinion on the agreement?"
"This agreement, this document, is fairly close in its spirit to the needs and desires of our nation. It will... ah... excuse me... now it is an integral part of our foreign policy in the region, which, as you know, for decades had peace and cooperation with our neighbours as its main goals."
"It didn't took the Veche long to ratify it. Why so fast? Were there no splitting issues?"
"No, not really. Most factions were pro-ratification from the very beginning, and, in fact, very few issues were seriously debated. Well, apart from the... ehm... yes, the third article. You know, the one about tolerance and cooperation... some ultra-nationalists from the Ancestor's Land party considered this definition to be too broad, and potentially dangerous to the monolithic culture of our nation. It was a rather heated debate, but we managed to convince a few before it was time to vote; it didn't really matter at the end, you've seen the overwhelming support this document has got in the vote."
"Now that the agreement is ratified, when will Perejaslawl officially become a signatory?"
"Knyaz is a strong adherent of this agreement; it was by his request that the Veche met today to decide on it, as you probably know. It is most likely that he will sign the document today, as we had already sent it to his office. Now if you excuse me, I have some urgent..."
"Yes, of course, Vedogost Bratislavich. Thank you very much for your time."
