Title: A Brief History of the Balkans region

Thracia - June 10, 2003 08:19 PM (GMT)
Some members have asked about the history of this region.

Here is a very brief history of the Balkans:

This region was established in January 2003 by Thracia. The basic objective when this region was founded was to bring Balkan nations (and nations with some Balkan connection) together and develop peaceful coexistence and cooperation among them -- unlike the real-world Balkans, where conflict and mutual suspicion was the rule until recently.

This was a rather quiet and small region until Austria-Hungary-Turkey arrived. Short after its arrival, we had a short war with the Eurasian Blok, which ended with a mutually satisfying agreement.

We then began to deepen our intra-regional relations here, and decided to create a special web-site and later a regional map. Drawing the regional map proved easier than the creation of the web-site, however. So A-H-T drew the first regional map.

With the arrival of Montfortslavia and Annoyastan, the region's technological capabilities increased significantly, and our "role-play" became more detailed; it obtained its current characteristics.

It was thanks to Motnfortslavia that we developed a special off-site regional forum, which has given the Balkan nations a broader range of possibilities to interact and to work together.

This region has had four regional delegates since its establishment: Thracia, A-H-T, Balkan, and for a very brief perod Makedonija, which later left the region.

East Moravia - June 11, 2003 04:09 AM (GMT)
East Moravia congratulates Thracia for compiling this history of The balkans. But our government thinks that we should be adding more information about our region to the forum, such as having the nations complete the national profiles, to have a database of information for easy acces.
