Title: Yugoslovenian Federal and Municipal Protection
Description: Yugoslovenia appeals to Justices

From: The Balkan Republic of Yugoslovenia

Yugoslovenian Federal and Municipal Protection

The country of Yugoslovenia is appealing to the Justices of the B.I.C.J. on the grounds of protection of any and all names and titles of federal cities and municipalities to prevent future discrepancies. The hope of this protection is to avert other nations of the world using or claiming city names already applied to those in Yugoslovenia. Granted, Nationstates has many thousands of members and complete "copywrite" of a name, especially that of a city, is near impossible, and also understood is the fact that the mapping system of The Balkans is common to overlap the territory of nations, we only want the Justices to enforce that the major cities in Yugoslovenia have protected names that will not cause arguments in the future.
The major cities that are wanting official protection are:
Ludoslav (New Capital)
Byla
Konstanty
Miron
Pyotr
Svjatopolk
Yura

Justices, thank you for your time and please think to consider this proposal.

We think that Yugoslovenia's request is very reasonable and acceptable.

Yugoslovenia - December 31, 2003 02:07 AM (GMT)
Thank you Thracia. We hope that these problems and others like them can finally be solved without fighting and aggression.

So will the Justices take my case? I just want to make sure nothing like the Yugo incident happens again.

Yugo is making quite a point. Perhaps to avoid future name clashing, cities names should be location-protected, or similar, since, for instance, our region is based on real life map. Something that should be worked.

Yes, the Balkan International Court of Justice should open something like a Copyright Bureau, where nations can register some names if they do not want these names to be used by other nations without permission.

And, in the event another nation wants it..they can recurre to alternate.

Real life example : York and New York.

Yugoslovenia - January 3, 2004 06:58 AM (GMT)
Thank you all for thinking about trying my case. By the way, I'm not Yugo. This is going to be a problem...Yugo is New Jugoslavia, and I am Yugoslovenia. Hmm...this bites.

Yugoslovenia - January 3, 2004 07:00 AM (GMT)
Could I be a part of this Copyright Bureau? I know that I am not a Justice, but perhaps since I am the one who brought up the case protecting names, I could at least be a chair member...please?

Thracia - January 3, 2004 07:24 PM (GMT)
First, we need to decide on establishing this bureau. At this time, the bureau is just an idea.

By the way, "Copyright" may not be the right word for this bureau; it should have a less "commercial" name, like "Geographic Names Regsitration Bureau", or something.

Yugoslovenia - January 4, 2004 03:02 AM (GMT)
Just as long as you consider me...
