Title: Assuming the delegate role
Montfortslavia - June 4, 2003 06:03 PM (GMT)
The Prime Minister of The Most Serene Republic of Montfortslavia wishes to extend its warmest welcomes to Thracia back to the role of UN Regional Delegate.
Thracia - June 4, 2003 04:42 PM (GMT)
Thracia is happy to assume the role of the UN regional delegate.
You could post here any comment, suggestion, or criticism about Thracia's actions that you would like the public to see.
Thracia - June 5, 2003 07:39 PM (GMT)
Could the representative from East Moravia explain this point a little further by giving some examples?
Thracia - June 6, 2003 05:54 AM (GMT)
Yes, I agree with East Moravia's point about taking our profiles into account when dealing with each other, and I support that proposal.
Now, with respect to the other proposal, on keeping some sort of archives in which we would store all the reports to track our progress, I would say that it is also a good idea, but is it technically easy to do? I would not want anyone to do it manually, in other words, I would be reluctant to see any person typing a list of 23 nations every day.
Thracia - June 7, 2003 05:34 AM (GMT)
Ok, Great!
Thank you for providing this service for the region.
East Moravia - June 4, 2003 06:13 PM (GMT)
The Free Republic of East Moravia has a sugestion for the UN Delegate:
It has come to our attention that most governments do not act or do not pay much atention to the profile on the nationstates, regarding the UN category and information there provided.
Want it sometimes or not, that is the reality of each nation and I would suggest that in the future, we would take such information more seriously when speaking for our governments and in our relations.
East Moravia - June 5, 2003 09:18 PM (GMT)
The delegation from East Moravia will gradly explain the proposal in detail.
Each nation has a national profile which apperas in the general description on the national lists. For example, today, this is our profile:
The Free Republic of East Moravia
UN Category: Democratic Socialists
Civil Rights: Excellent
Economy: Good
Political Freedoms: Some
The Free Republic of East Moravia is a enormous, safe nation, remarkable for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed, cynical population of 705 million are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt. It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it devotes most of its attentions to Defence, with areas such as Healthcare and Social Welfare receiving almost no funds by comparison. The average income tax rate is 85%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising fourteen-year-old boys selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.
It is a crime to offend someone's religious beliefs, the latest Harry Potter book is a bestseller, college students make ends meet by selling their kidneys, and guns are banned. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. East Moravia's national animal is the borgolo, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the gecko.
Our proposal states that, when dealing with nations, we take ALL of this elements into account. A nation with a weak economy cannot propose economical recomendations for other nations, or a nation with no civil righs can be demanded that it adhiere and respect human rights conventions.
Also, it would be a good idea to open a forum where we keep track of the UN reports and use them as progress markers to measure national developement.
We could establish some type of period. For instance, all the reports from the first one recorded (FE: Today's United Nations Report
The Largest Furniture Restoration Industry in The Balkans) and when this report appears again, compare the recorder standings and end the "cicle". This would be a good way to monitor progress, and each nation could receive a report on its standings on each UN Report.
Our nation is willing to carry out such task, with the permission of Thracia and Montfortslavia.
East Moravia - June 6, 2003 03:30 PM (GMT)
Our government has created a system, which allows for rapid sorting of all nations. Based on common Excell and Copy+Paste techinques.
Byzantine Territories - June 6, 2003 12:30 AM (GMT)
East Moravia has a point. We are classified as a Moralistic Democracy. Our government is a Constitutional Monarchy with Alexios III holding significant power, but still answering to the National Parliament ( Our Constitution is still being fleshed out, but a unanimous vote of non-support forces the Emperor to resign.) We are also a nation with strong Orthodox Christian roots and while the Church has no official role in politics, it is a strong influence on the people. Alexios III spearheaded the move to join the UN. Many of our people are against this move because they oppose several UN Resoulutions, including the one recognizing gay marriage.
OOC: This is the type of roleplaying that I enjoy and that I think East Moravia is talking about. Its fun to limit yourself according to your profile. Byzantine Territories will not cooperate with nations with polar opposite policies, except for limited diplomatic contact. I just think this is more fun.
