i was just screwing around and figured out how to make an easy explosion
and now i will show you all

make a new document (i used 600X600)
make shure your foreground and background colors are Black and White

1. Filter>Render>Clouds
2. Filter>Render>Diff. Clouds
3. Press Ctrl-F a few times till you get a bright one
4. Filter>Pixelate>Mezzotint (short strokes)
5. Filter>Blur>Radial Blur (100,zoom,best) DO THIS TWICE
6. Filter>Stylize>Emboss (angle:0, Amount: 500%)
***make the height whatever you want from around 5-40 Pixels depending on what you want***
(i did 25 pixels)
7. Ctrl-U (colorize, Hue-0, Saturation-76,Lightness-0)
8. Copy the layer
9. Filter>Render>Lighting effects
make a YELLOW-ORANGE OMNI LIGHT that fills up almost all of the New Layer
set the layer blend mode to Color Burn

and you are done
