Title: Favorite Character?

Mikage-san - May 6, 2003 12:34 PM (GMT)
I love all the characters, but I would have to say Aki is probably my favorite. I don't know if it's his constant helplessness (not that I blame him any), or just his blonde, purple-eyed gorgeousness. :huh:

It's more of his inner-character, though. His outcome affected me greatly, probably moreso than any other anime character. I thought Fushigi Yuugi couldn't be topped impact-wise, but this anime took the cake (for me, anyway!)

I think Aki had the most struggle in the series, really. They all had hardships, I know, but he had to sit by and watch his family betray Aya. I wish he had been able to hold-out and not give in to his... other side... but he came through in the end.

So who do you like best? From simply crazy Kyuu-san to the short-lived Shuro, who would it be, but more importantly, why?

Aki - May 6, 2003 06:58 PM (GMT)
I'm gonna be reffering to the manga character-wise, because I'm including Shuro in this discussion. XD;

Well I love Aki-sama most, in the beggining he was a sweetie, looking after Aya, just being a responsible, normal teenager who also liked having a bit of fun. Aki probabaly does have it the worse in the series, but people overlook that because of Tooya and Yuuhi being in it more [;.; no fair]. Aki suffers the most being held away from Aya, and struggles with Shiso and all that, and even though he does have it bad, he still redeems it all somehow. ;P!

One thing that *really* made me mad in AnC was a specific one scene in the beggining. Where Tooya and Aki are all chilling in the room in Mikage Inc. and Aki starts talking about everything that happened. And then Tooya says that he thinks he had it bad, to think about Aya with her family betraying her and trying to kill her while they kept Aki safe with them. Tooya was letting on that Aya had it better than Aki. >_<;
That makes meh MAD, because at least Aya has the Aogiri with her and they become a family to her, and at least this new family of hers isn't making her stay and they're not trying to kill anybody. With Aki he's being forced to stay with the Mikage, and being forced to just sit back and let them go after Aya. Not only that but at least Aya and Ceres come to some kind of agreement to co-exist for a while. So I think Aya has it a lot BETTER than Aki does. e.o; And that pissed me off a lot about Tooya saying that. x(

Besides Aki, I think Wei is awesome. :P You see, in the after-series novels where they show you more about the characters, I don't count some, and then I do count some. I count Shuro, and I half-count Aki. I think Aki's story was stupid because it turns into that whole "its a small world" thing with Sara [RIP OFF OF MY NAME XO], but Wei has a story in Aki's too, and I count that.

Wei's story gives a reason for him to be at the Mikage and fight regardless of what he has to do. Because of his sister who was sick, he needs money for her to get better, so that's his reason of working with Mikage, which if you look at it, then Wei doesn't seem as psycho-evil. I mean I understand on the way he wants Tooya dead cause of what he did, but Wei seems like he has a short temper anyway. XD;

And Shuro. *______*; Shuro is awesome. I count the episode of Shuro novel because it talks about why Shuro is the way 'he' is, and that 'his' family bought him up like that because of the tennyo blood and the whole returning to heaven thing. And in the novel, they show Shuro and Kei growing up as equals, and then Shuro starts to "change" and notices Kei has things that he doesn't [:: cough :: XD] and all that, which makes sence later in the series with teh concert.

And of course Yuuhi, you can't hate Yuuhi, he always gets the end stick of things, and I feel so bad for him. He's smart, atheletic, he can cook for cryin' out loud!, and he's so nice [if not a little too hormonal at times] so you gotta feel bad for him, not only the things with Aya, but his family as well. ;o; <3333 Yuuhi

So yeah. XD Those characters are all my favorites, but Aki owns!

TauntingDestiny - May 6, 2003 11:14 PM (GMT)
If you look at my avatar it's clear to see who my favorite charater is.

She's flirty and extremely cute. Her and Yuuhi were
a better couple in my opinion and I haven't been that
attached to a character since Aerith in final fantasy VII
and Ouka in Weiss Kreuz.

You know I've noticed that the character's I always
get attached to, well you know :angry:

*takes a moment to dry his tears and regain composure*

Mikage-san - May 7, 2003 01:12 AM (GMT)
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yessah... -_- Aerith. You know what I did at that game? I watched that... thing... happen and got so pissed off I rushed through the game. All of my characters were still on level 25-30. O_o Let me tell you, that battle took forever. I was on the edge of my bed glued to the TV.

I really should do that game over... and do all the things I missed out on like chocobo breeding and side-quests. I didn't even have decent magic.

Erm... back on topic:

Aki, I agree with you on the Tooya/Aki clash. I was a bit urked by that as well.

TD, I liked Chidori as well. She seemed a bit of a pest at first but her cuteness was completely overpowering... ^_^;

Yuhi - May 7, 2003 01:27 AM (GMT)
Yuhi. Ahh... he is so beautiful for an anime character. And very skilled and talented. And gorgeous... ahh. I think he looks better without that bandana on his forehead.

FFVII is a great game. And Aeris (the US version name) is my most favorite female character ever.

Aki - May 7, 2003 06:25 AM (GMT)
Chidori is great. When I first saw her I thought she'd turn into one of those annoying tagalong characters, but she really impacts on the readers/watchers and the characters in the series. Even though she's not a real big favorite, she's still a great character, and I, too agree that she and Yuuhi are cute together. n.n!

Yuhi - May 18, 2003 01:10 AM (GMT)
I totally agree! Chidori is a really cool character. Her and Yuhi are definitely an item!

I also like (besides Yuhi):
Mrs. Q
Chidori
Alec
Aki
Suzumi
Ceres

As for the other characters, like the ones in Denouement, are going to have to wait. But I've been hearing that Shuro and Kei are really cool. I never really seen a band in an anime actually perform before (only seen pictures of it. Ex: Starlights). :angry:

Too bad they don't have the Saliorstars series here in the USA. I would buy it definitely. ::sad::

I hope to find the other Dvd's soon. MOST IMPORTANTLY, THE FIRST VOLUME!
I want to see Shuro and Kei's band perform. I guess that's going to have to wait.

Aki - May 18, 2003 03:37 PM (GMT)
Waaaah I love GeSANG. ;o; Shuro is such a great character.

Yuhi - May 30, 2003 12:04 AM (GMT)
I liked Toya in the Denouement dvd. Shuro was great, too but I haven't gotten to know her/him very well. Kei looks totally different from the artbook. And his death was very sad. :(

It would have been cool if we can actually hear Shuro sing, though. But I felt totally sorry for her.

Aki - May 30, 2003 12:06 AM (GMT)
Heee Shuro is great in the manga. ^_^;

Shuro did sing, Mugen no Kaze. But if you were watchng it in English they just played the original MnK, which also has Kei's voice in it. The Japanese version has a special Shuro only version.

And Kei rocks. ^^

Yuhi - May 30, 2003 12:08 AM (GMT)
::pouts::

Dangit! The Japanese versions are a lot better, huh? The American ones were good but like in Past Unfound, it seems to have skipped many, many scenes that were in the magna. Which kinda didn't make any sense without the book.

But Denouement was perfect, imo. At least I got to see a scene of the ghostly Kei "Singing" before he faded.

Also, why transform in a middle of a crowd? Heh, everyone will know your secret idenity then. I know and understand that Shuro was upset that she lost her lover, but I bet that crowd was like ... "WHOOAAAAAAAAA!!!"

Anyway, I was glad that I get a chance to see her/him. Shuro looked really cool.

Melfina - June 27, 2003 07:14 AM (GMT)
I love Shuro, too. But what happened to Kei was sad. And I felt bad for Shuro for losing him. Although I only know little of her, I still think she is a great character. And the song is absolutely beautiful. I wished I saw them perform. That would have been wonderful.

I like Yuhi and Chidori, and Mrs. Q/Kyuu too. But I dunno about Toya and Kagami. Wei and Alec are also some of my most favorite characters. Same with Aki/Mikage.

snortstah - July 6, 2003 09:27 PM (GMT)
teehee chidori is fun ^_^
ummmmm
i liked shuro's character a lot though. i was so sad for her when kei died!!

i don't really have a favorite character. i love them all for different reasons. (and i'm really too lazy to type some long post about them all)

however i must say this:
tooya is yummy
XP

Mikage-san - July 6, 2003 11:33 PM (GMT)
I second that! (Tooya's yumminess!)

snortstah - July 6, 2003 11:33 PM (GMT)
let it be known to all that tooya is yummy!!! XP

duotrouble - July 7, 2003 01:17 AM (GMT)
OK! Take 2. I tried to post earlier but I crashed. :angry:

Anyway, I waffled between Aki and Yuuhi until the very end when Aki won my heart. He had it the worst of all the characters because he couldn't control anything. Everything was happening to him and around him and he was forced just to watch.

Aki reminds me of my brother a little in the early epsiodes when he's talking to Aya. But when he became evil, well let's just say he was drawn well. :wub:

<composes self> :rolleyes:

Yuuhi is an extremely close second. He's so kind and generous and the boy can cook! He is a little more in your face than Aki as far as his feelings. ("I can't be your friend. I love you!") Even though I thought Chidori and Yuuhi made a cute couple, I was always rooting for Aya and Yuuhi to wind up together.

As for the ladies, Ceres -- the tennyo herself -- is my fave. The woman knew what she wanted and went after it. ("Give me back my robe!")

Chidori is my second fave. She's so sweet and seemingly innocent. She is annoying in the beginning and just when I really started to like her . . . well, you know. :angry:

Sorry! Toya's way down on my list. I couldn't stand him the first few times I watched the series. Now, he's not that bad. Still think he had a very weak and unbelievable character.

Aki - July 7, 2003 03:48 AM (GMT)
I third the Tooya yummy thing!

Even though I agree with duotrouble, I don't like Tooya that much, character-wise either. n.n

But Ceres rocks, she's one of my favorite female anime characters of all time. :o

Yuhi - July 14, 2003 11:07 AM (GMT)
Hence my name, I still like Yuhi. But after watching Ceres again, I have to admit I like most of the characters except the following:

- Toya
- Aya
- Kagami
- Mikage

LoVexToOya - July 23, 2003 10:22 PM (GMT)
haha~ ToOya is definitely delicious ^^;;

i guess i would hafta say ToOya is my facorite character, and im pretty sure its because of his charming character, but then again i do have a weakness for tall mysterious strangers who carry around swords...heh heh :lol:

but what drew me most to him was that he was so serious and genuine about everythin...i usually dont like serious but his was...how would u say? enticing? haha! i guess so!!

but if anyone i am thankful for the character Q-chan, bcuz without her, there would be wayyyy lotz of seriousness and not much laffter !!

snortstah - July 23, 2003 10:48 PM (GMT)
acyually, i think it would have been better if there WAS more seriousness......i mean it seemed like they were always trying to lighten the mood when things got serious.....but sometimes seriousness is a GOOD thing

TauntingDestiny - July 24, 2003 05:54 AM (GMT)
I agree serious can be a good thing. But I also see why Watase added the comic relief and thought it fit in nicely.(most of the time)

OFF TOPIC-

by the way snortstah I love the new wallpaper on your site :lol:

I still think Ginta and Arimi are a cuter couple. there love twist reminds of that movie"Addicted to love" But that's another message board^_^
