Title: Big Fish????

Ok I just got finished watching Big Fish and I am very disappointed. Now, one thing that everyone knows about me is that I am the biggest sap in the world. I cry at the end of Homeward Bound no matter how many times I watch it. Hell, I've been know to cry during a cartoon on Nickelodeon (depending on what time of the month it is). Anyway, I had heard reviews on the radio and from my sister about the movie. If anyone knows anything about my sister, she never cries at movies. She has the idea that all the actors get in their trailers when they're done filming the movie then they go home and wait for their paychecks. Basically, my sister doesn't get lost in movies. Now, my boyfriend, on the same hand, is the same way. When we watch movies together he'll sit there and say things like "Hey, where did he get the matches to light that candle when the only thing he has are the clothes on his back." Basically, my boyfriend and my sister don't get lost in the imaginary world of movies. I do. I had heard on the radio that with this movie you had better bring a box of tissues. This isn't your typical 'cry a tear or two and go home' kind of movie. This movie will make you gush tears and start blubbering like a baby. My sister said that this movie was one of Tim Burton's best and she had never cried so hard during a movie. Now, my boyfriend, being a man, doesn't cry (something to do with being macho). Anyway, he didn't cry but he said the movie "pulled" at him. You know when you're watching a movie and you feel that you are about to cry but you don't because you know it's just a movie. That's what Lester said happened with him. He felt that lump in his throat that you feel when you are about to cry.

Now to my point of view. I have never been so built up for or excited to see a movie and then been let down so friggin' hard. I didn't even get the lump in my throat. The only reason that I am "sad" now is because I feel cheated. That, by far, had to have been the worst movie I have ever seen. Yes the special effects were "ok" at best. The plot was absolutely retarded and there were parts of the movie that they should have explained a bit more. Not to say that I am retarded and didn't get it but I think that if they had explained a few parts a bit more in depth it would have been a much better movie. I don't think that Tim Burton or Danny Elfman should have done this movie. Not to mention Ewan.

In conclusion, I have just wasted two hours of my life that I will never get back and I have a strong urge to contact Tim Burton and make him pay me for wasting my life. I highly recommend not seeing this movie. Maybe you should rent it if you can find a video store that let's you rent new releases for 99 cents but the movie isn't worth much more than that.

hmm... I actually liked Big Fish. I think it was played out brilliantly and well, it managed to move me into tears also. Especially that last part... *spoiler can't say* goodness...

it's just a bit confusing because some things are left unanswered but maybe that's the whole point. The narrater said beforehand that it's "hard to distinguish what is real from what is made-up" especially when it comes to the story of his father.

hehe... I can't blame you for thinking that the movie sucked. To each his own right? But I'm guessing that part of the reason why you found the movie so bad was that you got so worked up and expected so much because of other people's opinions about it.

I have experienced similar cases and yes, it ended disastrously. I ended up bashing the movie like bloody heck... hehe...

but my personal taste finds the movie... well, good. It managed to give me that warm fuzzy feeling inside. haha! Don't know... or maybe I'm just too biased because well, Ewan is just.. sooo... *drool*

haha! anyway, my two cents. ^u^
