Creature of the night
She walks about under the sun
Tired and worn, completely done
But at sunset, her heart starts to race
As she greets the ever familiar face
The moon takes its place in the sky
The night continues, comets fly by
The stars shine above with a beautiful glow
Making the figures of history’s shows
She looks up and seeks the hunter high
Finally sees Orion and his prize
She sees the three stars that make his belt
Watches the figure as her vision melts
She looks at the moon, the god of the sky
The one who looks over the ones who cry
He shines a light so high in the dusk
Shows a way out of all that’s unjust
She takes comfort in its glow
Puts her head up, feels the wind blow
She smiles to the moon and thanks it quiet
Thanks it for being there, just for being lit
The night soon calls and her pillows too
She knows that she will be sleeping soon
So she moves to the bed and sleeps in dreams
Sleeps under the light of the moonbeams
The sun takes its place in the sky and day
The moon is not seen, it is away.
That’s how it goes for the creature of night
One who lives for the moon’s light.
