I was wandering through this gallery type place in the mall down in chicago the other day. there were a lot of photographs and paintings by famous artists, but one thing really caught my eye. there was a serries of old black and white pictures of chicago from the early fifties. I bagan to think of what it looked like then, and how it looks now...and well this is what came of it.
Drag Me Through
Drag me through the underground
Show me something that’s not new
Show me someone that’s been around
I don’t want to hear what they say is true
All I need is a shot or two
This city is a waste
There’s nothing but garbage and trash
It seems they’ve all lost there taste
Where once there were buildings of beauty and pride
works of art carved from stone
Now they’re all the same, from a manufacturers ride
Squares and rectangles, no character of their own
Where once there were poets and artists trying their luck
Hanging out at the coffee shop on 3rd and oak
Now there’s businessmen rushing by the drive-thru at Starbucks
The only poets you see now just tell cheap jokes
They play an audience on a pre-made stand-up routine
Making a fool of themselves so they can pay the rent
Wander through the gutters looking for an independent scene
But all I find are broken souls in lines of unemployment
good to kno you still as good as when i last saw some stuff. heh. very very good. you make it sound so elequiant.
Very Good! I LIKE! KEEP IT UP HUN!
good! keep it up! i wanna see somemore!
