No, it is pretty low. You have to keep in mind that only a small porton of the earth's population (i.e.- us) like anime.

I could see why you would think it would be bigger.... people who like anime, (ie. us) hang out with other people who tend to like anime and all that junk.(for example in a place like this forum)
We forget that there are many other people in the world, all of them retarded, who do not like anime...

I totally disagree. Diffrent people have diffrent tastes. Some people enjoy the japanese arts. Other people just stick to their own customs/preferences (i.e.-Americans with their american cartoons). Its just what other like and dislike. It owuldn't be right if you see a guy that doesn't like the color blue and call him retarded. That would make YOU look retarded, for thinking everyone has to have the SAME taste making this world a dead place.

And yes, usually with anime fanboys and girls, they like to stick around people who like anime. i have a shit load of friends who enjoy anime, but the same goes who don't.

I am saddened to say that the number of people who like anime much less know what it is are very few in number, it may seem like more because the people we hang out with all usually like anime. For example I did a presentation in one of my classes a wile back and it revolved around anime when I was done I was asked by numerous people what is anime I even got one person who said who is this anime person. Only about two other people in a class of 35 even knew what it was.
But at least you can take comfort in the knowledge that our number is growing as anime becomes more and more popular so its only a mater of time until we are no longer in the minority.

I hope that in the future anime will grow and maybe then ppl will understand why ppl love it soo much...I can tell its already growing by how much bigger the conventions seem to be getting and that mkaes me really happy ^^
