It seems advantageous to adopt a new skin. This could be done through a contest, or just pick someone or several people to come up wtih some ideas and whatnot. Besides, with a new banner comes a state of difference, and I'm thinking that we could use a new skin with the winning banner. Thoughts? Comments? Flames?

Yeah, I think this would go good along with the banner contest, make a style around the new banner or something.

I'm just thinking someone can do a Prt Scr on the main forum page, and alter it from there. The coding can be done later. And they can make different files for each different component, like it actually is done.

After that, they can show the finished file, and users can yay or nay it.

I think you guys underestimate the difficulty in actually creating a skin ;) That's why i've kept this skin, cause i can't find any better ones around. If one of ya can pull it off, congrats.

Coding it isn't all that hard. You just create each individual file for the images, place them in different folders, copy and alter the template colors, coding, etc., and then apply it to the site. All can be done easily through the FTP.

It'd be good for you to do it then. heh. :P

And if we get a new skin, thank God, I've never liked this skin. xD

Yeah. I really am waiting for the banner contest to end. I mean, even if we have a runner-up, another skin can be made for the second banner. That'd be nice, too. That way users aren't forced into a single skin, like it is now. They can have a bit of variety.

It's not that I don't trust you to find an absolutely superb skin, but I think it would be all the better if we were to create our own skin. It would go a lot better with the banner than some skin created for the sole purpose of multiple boards.

Why can't you people just come up with multiple skins (especially lighter ones because I want something with white) based on the different banners. ;D But the winner of the banner contest will be the default?

Different ways of going about it.

You can either:

A) Download every single file and change it to your liking, or the liking of your forum-goers.

OR

B) Take the homepage of the forum, Prt Scrn it, and change it, then splice it, and do it that way.

Suggestion A may seem a bit lengthy, but it's easier than suggestion B, simply because with suggestion B, you won't, more than likely, change every single graphic.

Make a new skin and show it to us admins. It really doesn't bother me what skin we have. Kinda like the whole beauty on the inside thing.

Ok, Im definately not a fan of the green...and also the dark red makes it kinda hard to read...maybe thats just me used to the old one, but I dunno if you could make it just a tad softer on the eyes then it would be perfect...also the custom buttons sound cool as well...

Actually, I like the dark red. >_> If you have to change it, just don't change it to like lime green. xD

Hmm, i design skins for these boards a lot, its not hard at all, justy takes some time.
I have a design i made for my old website that i think u might like. Ill put it up on my server when i get home and post the link so you can look at it. Also, i could build one from scratch if you`d like but i find it easier just to edit a pre-existing skin. Well, ill check back here after i post the link and i`d like to see what you all think. Only problem is..... now i have to find where i stored the skin.... :lol:

You can register on the forums its instant for right now so no email crap.
also go thru the skins there are some styles in there that i think are decent that i can play with to your liking.

this is just till i make my own theme.

I don't know. >_> I like the skin now here, and we did have that banner contest just a little while ago. So we can't just change it right now. Although, it might be a good idea, if we have the option in the User CP to change our skins. You know...Like "Angel tide v.1......Angel Tide:Elza....Angel tide: Jadestone" Or something. Because that's a really good skin, and shouldn't go to waste. :P

That is a cool skin it would be a shame to waste it. I agree with everyone else though. I still like the old banner and we just got it so it would be bad to just toss that now.
