Title: Promotional Tournament Draw

chriswalkerbush - October 26, 2003 06:24 AM (GMT)
With Fairfield moving into the Grand Final, they've earned a shot at Adelaide to decide whether or not they'll be in the Premier League competition next year. However, there are still two more spots up for grabs, and the ASRL has today announced the draw for the tournament to decide the two newest members of the elite PL competition.

ROUND ONE
Sydney vs. Christchurch
Hawkesbury vs. Suva
Tamworth City vs. South Melbourne
Fairfield/Adelaide vs. Port Moresby

ROUND TWO
Winner A vs. Winner C
Winner B vs. Winner D

The two 'grand finalists' will promote. The winner of the Grand Final will be given a $500,000 'grant' to spend on developing talent.

Do injuries from the normal season count?

chriswalkerbush - October 28, 2003 05:32 AM (GMT)
No, injuries from the regular season won't count.

Likewise- form and injuries in the tournament won't count for anything.

Since Fairfield have chosen not to attempt Promotion and Adelaide are safe, will Port Morseby have a 'bye' or while 9th spot have a crack?

Jelly - October 29, 2003 01:25 AM (GMT)
Thanks mate.

It means ninth placed Cairns would get a shot. However, since Cairns no longer exist and St George aren't eligible (a new club can't go straight to PL)- that leaves us in a dilemma. Is anyone else planning to drop out?

NOTE: Those dropping out of the tournament will not receive Fairfield's cap concession. That was only allowed to sides winning a right via the finals or season proper.

Could Auckland or Canberra gain a shot?

If not, randomly determin a bye for a team- except Christchurch, cause they are the bye

Magro your humour always amuses someone................ I'm sure. The bye should go to the team that finished higher on the table.
