Newly appointed Tongan coach, Andrew Young has named his 25 man squad for the Rugby League World Cup. The squad will be capained by veteran lock Jim Dymock. The Tongans are in pool D along with Papua New Guinea, Russia and France. Coach Young is confident that his team can beat PNG and Russia but said that France will be a tough match.

As a warm-up for the World Cup the Tongans will take part in the Guiness International Invitational tournament hosted by Ireland in which they will play Germany, Ireland and Wales.
