Title: NRL TEAMS = WHY I LIKE/DISLIKE TEAMS
Description: Cronulla Sharks
oiler - September 12, 2003 11:23 AM (GMT)
WHY I LIKE
* They lost three grand finals.
* They have never won the big prize. Chokers of the modern era.
* Brett Kimmorley. One of the greatest halfbacks to have played the game. Play the flat style better than anybody else and always tests the defensive line. Always gets the better of Johns in head-to-head meetings. His toughness is very underrated.
* Mark McGaw. This guy was the biggest psycho centre to have played the game. He was great to watch. The guy had NO feelings of self-preservation. For his size, he was the hardest runner ever.
* Their efforts this season....lol.
* Their genoursity to Rugby League by dumping these players : Preston Campbell, Brett Firman, Paul Mellor, Chris McKenna, Martin Lang, Colin Best, Adam Dykes.... Ando can sure pick talent.
WHY I DISLIKE
* They play with no heart. Against the Eels, they threw in the towel. Some of those players should not have collected their match payments. When a player goes for a field goal when they are over 50 points down, they have chucked it in. I'd be worried if I was Ando.
* The Wedgie Man. Stevens has some issues to deal with. For a religious man, he is probably the dirtiest prop in the game. Shane Webeke was lucky not to spit out his own testicles after one Stevens wedgie. He tried to bury a GB players head into the centre of the earth in the Test Match stomping incident. But he got away with it. Scum.
* Beetroot Head. I am ashamed to call this thug a queenslander. He plays football for ONE purpose....to bash the crap out of people whenever he can. Fortunately, this blimp has no mobility or speed. He is blessed with the same luck as Stevens.
* ET. The man had a LOW workload and never did hitups, yet always sniffed out breaks and tries without being touched. I HATE that type of player (showpony). Most centres work their guts out for ground, yet he does nothing and gets all the glory.
* Peter Gow ( ex Sharks CEO). This madman took some scissors and cut up a st george fans team jersey. What a loser!!!
* Chris Anderson : While I feel that the flat style is an effective style of play, the Cronulla players are not skillful enough to play that way. Ando should coach his team around their abilities.

Kimmorley is only great WHEN there is another class ball player in the side. One of the most overated players in the game...

One of my greatest memories was his huge run down the sideline for a NSW origin try. A great. GO HAMMER!!!!!

They have had troble with thier defence when they have 13 on the field, so they were always in trouble when they only had 11. should always keep tring thou.

Ando needs to get his health back to full before he does any more full time coaching.

I agree with Nath, Kimmorley is the most overrated half going around. He's woeful without other players around to make him look good- his efforts at the Northern Eagles are a prime example of how classless he is when someone's not carrying him.
Cronulla are the new chokers, I'd have given that title to Sydney until last year.

Not commenting on any(because there is no argument) of it except for two things ET was so flashy because he left the bulk of defence to the inside men and made the tackles when they needed to be made and he is second I think might be third on the all time tryscorers list.
The next thing I'd have to disagree with chris they havent become the chokers of the league, they always have been since 73 but I really dont like the replayed game of 78, Extra Time and we would have won our first right there.
Ahh one more thing Anderson has taken our team back to the dark days of arthur beatson, but to be honest with the team he has next year I wasnt too upset to see him stay on, but also in saying that I wouldnt have been too upset to see him leave. Anything short of a grand final berth next year and I'll agree he is the worst coach the sharks have had and gladly see the back of him.

One more thing chris I think there was one player that got us home against newcastle at Newcastle Chris ;)

mark mcgaw is a dick, who remembers him starting a fight in that legends of league game, what a loser.
i used to like cronulla coz they had some cool players like mckenna, campbell, martin lang & paul Green but now they have dicks like jason stevens, phil bailey and brett kimmorley.
brandell - September 13, 2003 01:18 AM (GMT)
Cronulla was the under achieving side this year. Considering their talent and forwards they should have atleast made the eight.
Beatie is the biggest tool in the league and Kimmorley is overrated but that should take nothing away from their talent like Bailey, Peachy and Stevens. They also have a couple of up and commers in the likes of Sullivan and Bird. They will fire in seasons to come.
E.T is one of my favourite centres of all time and their is no way he can be discounted as one of the greats. Besides he played for NSW and Australia for a lengthy period of time. Surely the selectors can't be that stupid.

'Surely the selectors can't be that stupid'
Bahahahaha!
Brett Kimmorley, Shannon Hegarty, and now Skando. Need I say more?
Chris

Brett Kimmorley is pathetic.
Orford is the most under rated player in the league.
brandell - September 13, 2003 04:59 AM (GMT)
Skando is only under contention because of injuries. Otherwise he would not even get a look in. Hegarty played well in origin. And Kimmorley is a joke but has played well before in John's absence.
ET was good and deserved to be in the sides cause he was one of the best centres around at the time.
oiler - September 13, 2003 11:35 AM (GMT)
Two points.
*I agree with you that ET was a good player. It just pissed me off to see him get the glory from the hard workers around him, when he did'nt do much himself.
* Some people in this forum are blind. Skando has been terrific in the second half of the season and deserves recognition for it. We WON'T see Martin Lang in the train-on squad.

Hey Chris,
* Who scored three tries for Cronulla against Newcastle this season? Who dominated Johns in that game?
* Who scored a perfect "10" in RLW for his performance in Cronulla's 60+ pointscoring spree against Newcastle?
* Who forced Johns to play at hooker for Test Matches and Origins?
Not bad for a "classless" player.
Roger
Schmo - September 13, 2003 01:28 PM (GMT)
I dont relly like them because they underperform nearly every year. Kimmorley tries too hard to be like Johns, and is the worst goal kicker I have seen.

go roger, ur so right!
trognierrrr - September 13, 2003 10:43 PM (GMT)
hes good when hes on but he is oh so bad when hes not, nobody throws an intercept pass like him though, he is the best in the game at that :P
chriswalkerbush - September 14, 2003 03:08 AM (GMT)
One good game against Johns doesn't make Kimmorley class. That's like saying since we beat the Dragons and Gidley outplayed Gasnier that he's a better centre.
The 'fact' about Kimmo forcing Johns to play hooker is a load of crap. Ando's preference to Kimmo and his style of play was the factor there, not Kimmorley's abilities as a halfback. Basically Johns was better, but his ability to play hooker meant he could be moved there and Kimmorley could be included in the squad.
Funny, until Johns got injured, I didn't hear a word about Kimmorley going on the tour.
