Surfers Paradise and Queensland captain Darren Lockyer has come out calling the ASRL state of origin a "mickey mouse game".

The star five eight has critcized almost ever facet of the upcoming state of origin game leaving queensland and rugby league fans disillusioned. "The state of origin doesnt mean anything anymore." Its become a mickey mouse game, we have a blue coaching the queensland side and some guy trying to create controversy from nsw and its just become one big joke." said Lockyer.

Its not just Lockyer making these statements, Punks and Queensland team-mate Rhys Wesser had something to say. "yeah it is a bit dissapointing to be selected. I do have pride in my state but this game means nothing. The punks are on a pretty good run this season and this origin series will no doubt disrupt that" said the in form fullback.

When we asked Punks coaach Chris Maunder about the comments his players made all he could say is "you know my stance on the origin series, i back my boys up 100%".
