We are only days away now from the start of the ASRL Season, which has lead to all the papers being full of news and talk of ASRL and one of the most talked about topics is the deadly Surfers Punks halves combination of Preston Campbell and Captain Darren Lockyer.
Lockyer has struggled for form ever since he joined the Punks from The Perth Taipans 3 seasons ago, but he showed signs of his old dominating self in the Bob Fulton Cup winning Man of the Match in the Punks first round clash.
"Yeah my form's been down in recent seasons, but i feel a lot less pressured with Presto next to me and with a combination of that and a lot of hard work in the off season, I feel like I'm in for a good season" The Queensland captain said.
Lockyer and Campbell will test this much anticipated halves combination in the first round clash against one of the Punks great rivals, Sydney Oilers, who have proved to be tough opponents in the recent past but Punks coaach Chris Maunder stated that his team isnt afraid of the Oilers.
"(Roger) Bossert has been talking trash again about how Pennywise (Tupanga-anga) is gonna shut up Jonah (Lomu), but my boys might surprise Sydney" said Maunder who was once the assistant coach to Bossert at Sydney.
The Punks lineup to play the Oilers is this:
1. Rhys Wesser
2. Jonah Lomu
3. Segeni Ngethe
4. Steve Bell
5. Tyrone Pau
6. Darren Lockyer
7. Preston Campbell
8. Monty Betham
9. Paul Deacon
10. Shaun Timmins
11. Corey Parker
12. Glenn Morrison
13. Tony Grimaldi
14. Anton Oliver
15. Mark O Neill
16. Jason Croker
17. Adam Perry
18. Greg Inglis
19. Frank Miranda

Nice work. I think that's a sure fire match of the round candidate.
