I was just wondering...as soemthing highly important to adelaide. Has there been a union cap database begun to monitor when a union player has finished there four seasons in the ASRL, so as to know when a player no longer counts towards the union cap? I have a few players that will be in there fourth season this year and it is important to know this will be proveable so i can plan my future for my team. Kind of like knowing the age of rookies... cheers!

I believe all players exempt from the union cap next season are in the union cap list on the yahoo group.

yes i know that as it has been brought in for this season. I am wondering about the season after that, when the list would of course need to be updated. A big task i'm sure cause i think thats when all the world cup players went in...

No one has volunteered to handle the tracking of Union players. If someone wants to take on the duty, then a system will be in place. Otherwise, only those currently on the list will be exempt.

Well wernt the majority of rugby players introduced for the season following the 2003 Rugby World Cup? That was the season i joined and they were already in before that. What if i was to go through and collect the names of the players in the starting teams of the 2003 World Cup and exempt those players as im guessing thats who was entered into the sim to broaden the player pool. Just a thought, is this when most of the rugby players were added? i'd just get the major teams like Australia, NZ, England and South Africa - with the other six nation countrys an option as well. My point is - if thats when they were added, then the season after the coming one would make them all exempt under the four season rule... As i put together the list of rugby players the last two seasons, i would also have a good idea who is new- Once again - this is just a thought. i trade just as hard and bid just as much as the next person to get the players i love and they just happen to be rugby players by and by. Just an option anyway...

Why was the cap introduced. I was also interested in this as i was wondering when O'driscoll was added to the sim. I thought he would have been a long term player.

Sounds fine by me, Anthony. You can handle that, if you like.
As for why it was introduced, it was just to prevent clubs from over-stocking on Union talent when current NRL/ESL players were languishing in RSC squads.
