Although entering their first season, Christchurch is a name that has been synomis with the ASRL, with the Christchurch Carnage entering the ASRL in 2002/03 and achieving a promotional spot to the Premier Division, the following year. However the club lost money when it got demoted during the following season and was axed from the ASRL. Hopefully with experienced coach Matt Lyons at the helm, the Avalanches will experience the highs he Carnage did and not the lows.
