Title: Magro's disgust at coachs

MrCharisma - July 10, 2003 12:05 PM (GMT)
Central Coast Falcons coach and CEO Anthony Magro has gone public to announce his disgust at other ASRL coaches.

"I don't understand why so many coaches within the ASRL are more concerned with signing other players than re-signing their own. I think they are looking for the easy solution and hoping for the new individual to bring victory to their club rather than actually working with the sqaud." said Magro

"I can understand coaches like Rowland Kelly who are allowing players to look in the market because they are unhappy at the club. We at the Falcons have a rare thing called loyality which is a hard thing to come by. Most of out players have been with the club for the 4 seasons we have been around for and only this year have some of the origionals left due to other reason not in our power. We like to see our players retire at the club. Players such as Craig Polla-Mounter and Paul Harrigon are able to say they have retired at the Falcons, and as Robbie O'Davis winds down his career we will make the effort to retain him rather than replace him. He contract comes in negioation at the end of the season and the first priority at the Falcons will be to retain our players before looking at the market." said Magro

When asked about players he would like to see playing at the Falcons, Magro said "Michael Vella, Lee Breirs, Asuki Miyimoto, Mark O'Meley and Willie Mason are all players I am looking to speak to. I am also looking at trying to bring back former players like Willie Talau, Braam van Straaten and Nigel Vagana."

Central Coast are now being put to the test. With 9 rounds of the ASRL in the past, the Falcons are still undefeated however meet a horror run where they meet Wellington and Gold Coast in round 10 and 11. The Falcons are met with a ray of light in round 10 where some of the Cougars players will be taken by representitive football though the other side to the story is round 11 see a heavy chunk of the Falcons squad taken to representitive football. Both their goal kicker and captain will be lost though rumour has it that Gunter Franz will take kicking duty, Guiseppi Magro will become Fullback and little is know who will take over Captainsy. Magro will look to the leadership and experience of his players in the next round against Wellington though a possible captain is Craig Emmerton.

I didn't get this article. You say you're disgusted at everyone trading their players off, and then you list the ones you're after. How do you propose to get them without trading your own players off?

Good article otherwise.

It was more from a 'real-life' coaching position than an ASRL one.
