Title: The Loan System

After the dismal failure of the Alliance system, Newcastle's Mark Fowler approached the ASRL board with a proposal for a loan system like that employed by English Superleague clubs. While the RSC has gone a long way towards improving depth- we realise that a lot of clubs don't have this access.
So, the loan system steps up to the plate.
The System
Any club can loan a player from another club at any time. The only requirements is a consenting coach and the money to process the loan.
1. A loan can be organised to be one of three lengths
- Four matches
- Twelve matches
- Season
A week to week loan isn't available, mostly to save hassle for whoever is simming games, but also because a particularly guileful coach could use the system to continually plug gaps in his lineup whenever his depth didn't cover them.
2. Teams may only have two loan players at any one time, and a maximum of five loaned players in a season.
3. Loans cannot be organised after Round 18, but loaned players are eligible to play in the finals. This is to stop eliminated clubs lending their superstars to finalists to assist them in contesting the premiership trophy.
4. The team who owns a loaned player can call players back in case of emergency, but that player then cannot be loaned out again that season. However it still counts as one player loaned for the loaning club- regardless of duration.
Finally, what does it cost?
A one month loan costs a minimum of $100,000.
A twelve week loan costs a minimum of $300,000
A season long loan costs a minimum of $500,000
The player loaned does not need to fit under the clubs salary cap. The payment is made directly to the loaning club- and the price is dependent entirely on the loaning club's demands. The prices above are a bare minimum.
The system is still experimental, so if you have any suggestions on how it could be improved- feel free to leave them here.

What about extending a loan contract?
For Example: Player A is loaned out to Team B for a month, if Team B still needs/wishes to be able to extend the loan period of the player for another month.

You would simply create another one month loan- paying the fee again and it counting towards your limit on loans for a year.

Perhaps after a season loan, the team who loaned the player may have the option of purchasing the player, if the club who loaned him wants to?

That's not a bad idea. Got an idea as to how that would work?

who would risk loaning out a player for one game who could get injured and get nothing in return for it?
bumper_benny - August 26, 2005 11:19 PM (GMT)
Yeah, who would give you a free loan, and where would you get the player from?

I proposed an idea very similar to this a few seasons back
The problem with it, is the ASRL doesn't take its finance THAT seriously. Coaches would rather trade a player off then sell them...

Basically, at the end of a season-long loan period, if the club wanted to purchase the player, then they would ask the club who loaned him to grant permission for this to happen & they would work out a price. If they come to an agreement, Chris is notified & the deal takes place.
