Title: 2 Possile Returns (Dave should read)

Brisbane's former Queensland State of Origin rugby league teammates Allan Langer and Ben Ikin are on the verge of comebacks.

But neither will be lining up for the Broncos - Langer is gearing up to play for the Caloundra Sharks and Ikin the Toowoomba Clydesdales.

Ikin, 26, who made a shock decision last season to quit the National Rugby league because of chronic knee problems, has been training with the Clydesdales and is keen to have a run with Brisbane's feeder club.

It would allow him to be called up by father-in-law and Brisbane coach Wayne Bennett if the Broncos hit an injury crisis during the season.

Langer, 37, has been coaxed into a comeback by his brother Kevin, who is captain-coach of the Sharks.

He occasionally runs with the Broncos and has been training for several weeks for a comeback with the Sunshine Coast side.

The king of comebacks and architect of many great wins for Queensland and Australia, Langer has been undergoing pre-season training with the Sharks in preparation for his latest return to the field.

"I've played rugby league since I was four-and-a-half and I still enjoy it so why not keep enjoying it," said Langer.

"If I can help give something back to rugby league, why not?"

Ikin has been surprised by how good his troublesome knees feel since Brisbane bowed out of the finals against Penrith.

"I've got a bit of the desire back and to be honest my knee is probably feeling better know than it ever has," he said.

"I guess I didn't want to quit too soon and have some regrets.

Ikin though has no thoughts of playing NRL, unless it's to fill in for the odd game.

He is also happy to move into the pack, most likely at lock, so as not to impede the path of Brisbane's young hopefuls.
