Brisbane put the shocking defence of last week behind them today, asserting themselves and hammering Queensland rivals, Surfers Paradise, 24-2 in a one sided display. Capetown and the Central Phoenix have played out a thrilling 28 all draw at Newlands Stadium in South Africa, both sides scoring four tries and landing two penalties to show just how much the Ravens have improved since last season. A four try performance from Steve Stacey has given Auckland a solid 36-24 win over recently relegated Christchurch. The Marlins, having never clashed with a fellow New Zealand side, finally had a chance to prove just how far they’ve come since joining the comp at the start of the 2003 season.

Darwin’s awkward adjustment to Jelly Adams’ coaching style continued today, and it was Adams’ former side, the Coffs Harbour Wyrms, who engineered another Darwin loss. The 23-18 win was exciting to watch, with the Wyrms’ backline outplaying their fancier opposition.

Scott Staniforth has continued his ominously good pre-season form, scoring a try and playing all over the Eastwood backs in Canberra’s 18-10 win over the Pumas in Sydney today. A former NSW Origin rep, Staniforth has been quiet since joining Canberra, but has asserted himself of late.

Abysmal discipline has seen Hobart go down to a much worse side again, the Shades conceding eight penalties in kickable position to hand Freemantle a 17-8 win. Both sides snared only a single try, but Frenchman Christophe Lamaisson had no trouble kicking his side to a win thanks to idiotic decisions from the Hobart side.

A double to Joe Galavo has guided the North Melbourne Maulers to a surprisingly hard to achieve 16-6 win over the plucky Perth City Blackhawks. After last week both dismantling their opposition, the two sides put on a real show for fans today in Melbourne.

After five years of trying, Sydney coach Roger Bossert can finally boast a win over a Walker-Bush coached team, the Oilers upstaging the visiting Crusade 18-10 after trailing 8-0 earlier in the match. It wasn’t a full strength Crusade lineup, but Walker-Bush was visibly displeased, and has already said he plans to get some revenge in the round one clash between the clubs.

also peoples start thiking about getting ya 7's teams together becuase the 7's comp will be going ahead pre season this time round

Excellent. This year is looking to be a good year for the Ferrets after a narrow loss to the Stallions and now they have beaten local rivals Tamworth. Tallic has proved to be another good buy for the Ferrets, who is second in line Tallic for both in play kicking and goal kicking if needed.
