Title: pimpin my acoustic
Description: help please

okay my guitar is a crappy lil steel string i got for $75 brand new a few years ago.

since then it's been restrung to left handed,
restrung back to right handed for my sister, who in the end never played it.
been covered with shitty stickers,
completely stripped, no strings, no stickers, nothing.

it's been sitting in my cupboard for about 2 years now, and i feel instead of neglecting it, making it look and sound better than it did.

i think also the reason it sounds so shit is because in the 6 months i played it it didnt have a string change, also for another 6 months they gathered more rust, and 2 or 3 snapped off.

i would like to make it better by.

painting it white,
designing a graphic for it,
fitting in a microphone over the sound hole, like on some others that i've seen
fitting in a lead jack,
putting some mean strings on it.

the questions i ask.

what is a good paint for an acoustic guitar so the sound doesnt get trapped?
is fitting a microphone and lead jack possible?
if not would pick up's fit somewhere?
what are some good strings?
is it all worth it?

it would be greatly appreciated if people could help me out with these questions, thanks in advance

Just buy an electro acoustic

Not worth changing everything about it. You can pick electro acoustic up pretty cheap nowadays anyway, keep the acoustic acoustic

i agree with fuct, keep your acoustic acoustic, and buy an electro acoustic.

and if you say that guitar has shitty sound , with the painting that sound may be even worse.

and in order to paint your accoustic you would have to strip the current paint off it, if you dont know how to you can damage the guitar making it more shitty then it already is

is fitting a microphone and lead jack possible?

The mic and jack are both possible. You could either go with a soundhole or bridge mic.

what are some good strings?

If you really want to pay the money for lasting strings go with Elixir strings. They cost more but last longer and keep a brighter sound.

is it all worth it?

Yes and no. If your guitar has a solid top and a bone nut then yes. If it doesn't than your just doing it all for sentimental reasons and for something unique.

The best advice is to just plain get a new guitar. If it already sounds shitty then chances are doing anything else to do it may not work. For instance you can try different strings until you have tried everything and it may not work...the pickup may just may it sound shittier. I would just shop around for an electro acoustic mainly because there are tons upon tons of choices....and they get pricey pretty quick.

this guy at my job wants to sell his electro accoustic after he finds a new guitar to use. He offered it for 100. I gotta get the info on it and see how much it is actually worth.

Good thinking. When peeps wanna get rid of their old gear they want usually twice to three times as much as it may go for on ebay or something.
