Title: last song i learned thread

Silenced - April 8, 2005 10:36 PM (GMT)
ok guys dont be bitches and spam this fucker, this is the official "the last song i learned" thread here youll post yeah you guessed the last song you learned on whatever you play, post the name of the song, the band and a little info that may be useful to someone who wants to learn it (like the intro is a bitch or this part is easy but it sounds cool, you get the idea), it may even encourage people to learn new songs, ill go first:

megadeth- trust
ok our drummer wanted us to learn it (he kept playing the intro over and fuckin over), its really cool typical megadeth song (variations of a main riff, lots of palm muting mainly during verses) coolest part: i do backup vocals on the chorus (the spanish version baby ) the bridge sounds kinda lame if youre not mustaine and youre not on a studio, it cuts the fuckin momentum so i advise you skip it (the "how could this be happening to me") and go straight into the palm muting and then the solo, which is really easy btw.
overall really fun to play but ive a feeling itll get boring after a couple of weeks, who knows, oh yeah really simple shit to play on bass too so you may want to try it if your band aint exactly the best musicians ever (id say the drums is the hardest part but then again, who the fuck understands drummers)

hmm

the last son i learned was back in black by ac/dc

scorpio - April 9, 2005 12:38 AM (GMT)
The last song i learned (on guitar) was The Idiot Box from Shadows Fall.
I love the riff and its remeniscant if metallica's Damage Inc which is one of my all time favorite thrash songs. Its quite easy to learn if you are used to playing thrashy riffsi didnt really have to "learn" it it was more like remembering the verse chorus verse of it heh. I am currently working on Laid To Rest from Lamb of God
as this has a funkier dual guitar attack. Some of their stuff is a fucking bitch to learn. The hardest part to playing most of their songs is getting the timing right, it requires a lot of concentration so i would recommend isolating yourself from distraction while learning their shit.

last song i learned is All For You by Annihilator

metman - April 10, 2005 06:38 AM (GMT)
I just learned Lepper Messiah. I love the rhythm of this song! The riffs are some of Met's heaviest with some nice staccato mixed in. The solo is a bit tricky because your fingers are crunched together during what I call the "up and down" part (look at the tab and you'll know which part I'm talking about), but it's one of my favorite solos because it maintains the overall rhythm of the song while also varying nicely.

Call of the Ktulu... Metallica... I learned this song a while ago but I recently learned the solo.. Its sloppy in some parts and I need a wah to make it sound cool and hide mistakes... Intro is hard and takes time to learn... I learned it then my friend learned it and since hes rhythm guitar and were starting a band he does it and I forgot how to play it... also the solo is hard.. cause its fast and scaley, also it involves tapping and I need to get the tapping parts more solid.. its a crazy song and its fun I play it atleast 4 time sa day...
also if you wanna count this one too like 2 days ago I learned Motley Crue "Too young to fall in love" well the first couple of minutes but I stopped at the solo...

Currently learning Iron Maiden Hallowed be thy name...

metman - April 19, 2005 12:59 AM (GMT)
I've learned a bunch of songs in the last week. I learned Rat Salad, War Pigs, and most of Iron Man from the Black Sabbath album Paranoid, Return to Serenity by Testament, and the solo of One. The Sabbath songs are fun because they have good solid riffs and nice Pentatonic solos. Iommi is one of the few guitarists in my opinion who use the Pentatonic and Blues scales as well as Hammett and Mustaine do. The key to the Sabbath songs is maintaining a steady tempo to get the full effect of the heavy riffs. Return to Serenity has a huge solo, but it's easy to separate it into sections, so it doesn't take too long to learn. Plus the main riff has a nice soothing sound. The One solo isn't that hard to learn, but you have to start slow or you'll get into bad habbits. I've learned enough for a wile, so now it's time to practice! :bang:
